2016

This year I am teaching Yr 12 Specialist Mathematics, Yr 11 Mathematical Methods and Yr 9 Advanced Mathematics. At this early stage, all of the girls have made a positive impression on me.

Kristy Kendall, the new Principal, has made a wonderful start at the school. She grew up locally and always dreamed about coming to Toorak College. She is also coaching the Aerobics Team. The girls love her. My Grandson, Cash is about to turn 2 years old and he is about to get a baby sister in April.

Mila was born on my daughter's birthday in the second week of the Term 1 holidays. It was great being up there for the event. They live on a Dairy farm near Echuca. My son's daughter Evie is beautiful, she is!

A great group of new teachers have started at the school and even Gina McIntosh has come back to teach Yr 12 Global Politics while Liana Gooch is in the Acting Deputy Principal position.

The Year 7 and 8 area looks great. Complete with Pizza Oven and Weber B-B-Que!!

The combined Athletics Track, Hockey and Soccer Field is coming on well and the school is hoping that it will be ready for the House Athletics in Term 2. (It wasn't - so we are back to Ballam Park). It appears as though the earth works are nearly finished and the new retaining walls are going up around the edge near the Gym, Chapel and Boarding House. I hope the school will be able to access the area easily. It looks a little dangerous at the moment.

Phoebe Blakey is the Head Girl ably assisted by Jaymie Moynihan as Deputy. They talked me into performing in the Prefect's Uniform Video. I am meant to be 'Osher'??? from The Batchelor. Bit of a stretch to the imagination.

The Middle School building plans have now morphed into the Centre for Innovation and Science. I am interested to see what the final decision is.

Kristy Kendall was formally inducted into the role of Principal in April. I was honoured to speak on behalf of the Senior Staff.

The Year 11 Formal was held at the Peninsula Country Club on Friday the 15th April. Great night, the girls looked beautiful and the food was excellent.

Diane Furusho has commenced as the Head of the Senior School. She is a good fit to the school and she obviously loves our school.

Julie Carrington had Semester 1 off to travel and also to have a hip operation. She decided to not come back. I was privileged to give the farewell speech for Julie in the middle of the year.

The Year 12 girls have just finished at Toorak College for the year. The celebration was great fun and the assembly was held in good spirit. The Chapel service on Tuesday was the best I have been to. The speeches were wonderful and the present Prep girls gave Teddy-Bears to the Year 12s who have been here since Prep. There wasn't a dry eye in the room. I loved it when Matilda-Belle hugged her Preppy without bending down.

My Specialist girls gave me their heartfelt thanks on their final day that brought a tear to my eye. I will miss them dearly. Yana Howden was the guest speaker at the Valedictory service. She was the Head Girl when the present Year 12 girls were in Year 8.

Karen Towers has retired. We first met at University in 1977 and started working together at Mt Eliza HS in 1978. I was asked by Karen to make her farewell speech.
